What to expect.

During the initial evaluation, we will discuss your goals, history, and questions you might have. We will spend time taking some baseline measurements such as range of motion, posture, and strength. A CranioSacral therapy or Lymph Drainage assessment will also be performed. After the assessment, we will discuss an appropriate plan of care. I will begin some initial treatment and provide some education to allow you to continue your healing process when you leave the clinic.

Treatment will be provided to you while fully clothed. It is helpful if you wear comfortable loose fitting clothing to allow for movement. Most treatment will be provided on a massage table in a calm and nurturing environment. If you are bringing your child for treatment, generally you will be in the room and involved in the treatment session to encourage a safe healing space for your child.

The manual treatment techniques provided are often light touch with very gentle pressure held for long periods of time. Deeper pressure may be used at times in order to get to the level of the tissue restriction. Some techniques require traction of a part of the body and a long hold or gentle movement may be offered. These techniques may be provided at a location that is not directly where your pain or problem is. Your whole body is connected through the fascial system, therefore restriction at one area of the body may be creating pain in a different location. Techniques may required pressure on the bones of the skull, soft tissue of the abdomen, or even muscles inside the mouth. Please let me know if there is somewhere you do not want to be touched.
